T-Skin® allows the measurement of the transepidermal water loss (TEWL) variation after product application, and thus, to claim the protective or film-forming performance of products.

Petroleum jelly, known for its occlusive properties, demonstrated a significant and stable reduction in TEWL on the T-Skin® model. The natural ingredient claimed as a “Petroleum jelly alternative” exhibited similar performance to that of Petroleum jelly. However, the protective bench product also reduced TEWL, albeit to a lesser extent compared to the other two formulations.
